NZMCA 56TH NATIONAL EASTER RALLY & AGM (Open to New Zealand Motorhome Members Only)
Central Bay of Plenty, Baypark Tect Arena, Mt. Maunganui, April 5th-9th 2012
'Living the dream' is the apt theme for the NZMCA's 56th Easter Rally & AGM. After all, we're able to enjoy one of the world's loveliest places from the comfort of our motorhomes and caravans. Find out what the 2012 Organising Committee has got up its sleeve to make this a fun-filled and colour-blazing rally.
What's On?
"Think carnival, calypso and colour!" says Convenor Bev Jamieson who, along with the Organising Committee are keen to make the most of the Mount's reputation for being a fabulous holiday destination. The local council has agreed to offer six days of pre-rally parking for NZMCA members at a fantastic spot within a kilometer of the Bayfair Shopping Complex, Baywave Hot Pools and the golden beaches. A bus service is also available to transport anyone wishing to travel around the area.
Entertainment Extravaganza
Opening night, April 5th will feature a Carnival Cabaret and dressing in your best finery (don't forget a glittering, fancy mask) is required! Rotorua-based band Count Me In provides the evening's music. A Variety Concert featuring 'Stars in Their Eyes 2008' grand finalist Tony Wellington welcomes Friday night. Witness performances by the young ballerinas from the Dance Education Centre in Tauranga and the Tauranga Rock & Roll Club.
More music on Saturday afternoon with a Step-up concert and as dusk falls, high drama with a Black & White Cabaret (do dress up accordingly!) with music by the Shy and Retiring Band.
And on Sunday, the highlight evening, international entertainers The Beat Girls (pictured at left) will have everyone dancing the night away with classic tunes from the 50s, 60s as well as a special treat for Abba fans. Frank Vosper is the night's MC.
